Amendment to Reuter-Stokes, Inc. Special Nuclear Material License SNM-1826

Dear Sir:

We request an amendment to our current SNM-1826 License, and submit the following information in accordance with 10CFR70.34:

1.

We request that the location where SNM is used or processed be changed from:

18S30 South Miles Parkway Cleveland, OH 44128 to:

Edison Park 8499 Darrow Road Twinsburg, OH 44087 2.

As a result of the recent purchase of Reuter-Stokes, Thts aneral Electric Company will move the present Cleveland facility to the new Twinsburg location. The present location is actually in Warrensville Heights, a southeast suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. The new location is approximately 15 miles southeast of the present facility.

The name of the corporation remains the same, Reuter-Stokes, Inc., and is run as a subsidiary of The General Electric Company. The place of incorporation (Delaware), also stays the same. The principal officers of the corporation, as listed on page 2 of our application dated May 26, 1978, remain the same with the exception of the Treasurer, Joseph P.

The. laboratories at the new location that use special nuclear material will be upgraded with new equipment. A floor plan of the specific controlled access areas (CAA) is shown in attachments 1 and 2.

A description of the radioisotope fume hoods is attachment 3. An engineered stack monitoring system for the fume hoods is described in attachment 4.

Moderation and shielding for the PuBe neutron sources are described in attachment 5.

Our RS-SGP-880.0, PHYSICAL SECURITY PLAN AND PROCEDURE FOR THE PROTECTION OF SPECIAL NUCLEAR MATERIAL OF LOW STRATEGIC SIGNIFICANCE, has been revised to incorporate the specific changes mandated by the move to the Twinsburg location. The S0P is marked as attachment 6. Since it contains information pertaining to site security as well as security of special nuclear material, the document is considered proprietary.

Radiation Measurements Corporation of Chicago, Illinois, or another company with acceptable qualifications, will be contracted to move the special nuclear material from Warrensville Haights to the Twinsburg location.

After the Warrensville Heights facility has been vacated, Reuter-Stokes will decontaminate the controlled access areas and contract Radiation Management Corporation to perform a decommissioning and decontamination survey.

8.

The type and quantity of special nuclear mate ial remains the same as in the license.

9.

The Radiation Safety Officer and his assistant remaia the same.

10. The persons designated to use or to directly supervise the use of the special nuclear material remain the same,

11. The Radiation Safety Program and the comitment by Reuter-Stokes to this program in order to achieve dose rates to its employees that are as low as reasonably achievable, remains the same. All Radiation Safety procedures, directives, and controls will apply to the new location.

12. Reuter-Stokes plans to move into the Twinsburg location by June 1,

1985. A timely response to this request for an amendment would be greatly appreciated.
