FPL has reviewed the subject report and.we have undertaken initiatives to address areas requiring improvement at St. Lucie.

In order to improve the performance at St. Lucie Plant, we have put in place a series of management indicators. The management indicators target specific activities in all plant departments and permit us to evaluate, on a real time basis, equipment and process improvement progress. The St. Lucie Plant indicators and activities are reviewed at monthly management meetings at the site. You and your staff are invited to attend and observe these meetings. Additionally, we submit to the NRC, on a monthly basis, the set of indicators reviewed at the monthly meetings. We are confident that the management indicators we are using, coupled with our self-assessment activities and ongoing reinforcement of management expectations for personnel performance, will result in a resumption of St. Lucie Plant's superior performance.

The NRC's SALP Report provides us with useful feedback on performance at St. Lucie Plant. The NRC's efforts in this regard are appreciated.
