i Note to files: 70-1489 SNM-1461 EXTENSION OF EXPIRATION DATE - GOODYEAR AEROSPACE CORPORATION i

By letter dated July 23, 1985, Goodyear Aerospace Corporation requested that the termination date of Materials License SNM-1461 be extended to April 1,1986.

The license was issued to Goodyear for centrifuge development work at their j Advanced Technology Center near Akron, Ohio. The development work has been

terminated and Goodyear plans to decontaminate and decommission the facility prior to April 1,1986. After decontamination and decommissioning Goodyear will request a close-out survey by NRC and license termination.

l The material permitted by license at the Goodyear facility is limited in 1 quantity and is composed only of depleted, normal, and low-enriched uranium.

Decontaminatiori and decommissioning of the facility should present no new or unusual problems to the Goodyear staff. No significant hazards to the staff 1

or the public during these operations are expected and there should be no environmental impact.
