Applicant first selected candidate areas by identifying all surface water sources within and adjacent to the area it serves. Applicant concluded that the Brazos River Basin, candidate area was a desirable loca-tion for siting of ACNGS. Applicant then evaluated four specific sites within the candidate area and selected the ACNGS site. The Limestone County site is outside the study regions considered, therefore no specific site in that county was evaluated as an alternative to ACNGS.       Limestone County was subsequently chosen as a site for the location of a minemouth lignite plant because of nearby lignite deposits.

The Limestone County site is outside the study regions considered, therefore no specific site in that county was evaluated as an alternative to ACNGS.
Limestone County was subsequently chosen as a site for the location of a minemouth lignite plant because of nearby lignite deposits.
Thus, the existence of lignite deposits accounts for the construction of the Limestone County plant outside Appli-cant's service area.

HOUSTON LIGHTING & POWER COMPANY S Docket No. 50-466 S

(Allens Creek Nuclear Generating 5 Station, Unit 1) S APPLICANT'S FURTHER ANSWERS TO TEX PIRG'S THIRD INTERROGATORIES Interrogatory No. 6: Applicant's site selection process is described in detail in Chapter 9 of the ACNGS Environmental Report.

Thus, the existence of lignite deposits accounts for the construction of the Limestone County plant outside Appli-cant's service area.
