OF SCOPING OUTREACH AND SITE VISIT FOR HOLTEC INTERNATIONALS PROPOSED CONSOLIDATED INTERIM STORAGE FACILITY, LEA COUNTY, NEW MEXICO (DOCKET NUMBER: 72-1051)
During the week of April 30, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff participated in a site visit and environmental scoping information gathering meetings related to the staffs environmental review of a license application from Holtec International (Holtec) to construct and operate a consolidated interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel in Lea County, New Mexico.
During the week, staff engaged the local community leaders near the proposed project to gain understanding and information regarding the site and surrounding area. The staff toured the proposed project site.
A complete report of the meetings and site visit Enclosure 1. The staff also received a handout from the applicant during the site tour with the proposed project location and three dimensional renderings of the constructed project Enclosure 2.
