Application to Revise the Technical Specifications Associated with Movable Control Rods

Reference:

License Amendment Request 18-02, Application to Revise the Technical Specifications Associated with Movable Control Rods, October 4, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18277A377)

In the referenced letter, NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra) requested an amendment to the Seabrook Station (Seabrook) Technical Specifications (TS). The proposed license amendment adopts changes provided in TSTF-234, "Add Action for More than One [D]RPI Inoperable"; TSTF-547, "Clarification of Rod Position Requirements"; and makes various other changes to align the Seabrook TS more closely with NUREG-1431, "Standard Technical Specifications Westinghouse Plants."

In the referenced letter, NextEra also requested NRC approval of the license amendment request within one-year and stated that the amendment would be implemented within the following 90 days.

However, additional time is needed to align planned maintenance scheduled for the upcoming refueling outage and therefore, NextEra will implement the amendment by May 28th, 2020.

Should you have any questions or require additional information, please contact Ken Browne, Site Director, Nuclear Safety Assurance and Learning, at 603-773-7932 This letter contains no new or revised regulatory commitments.
