On August 13, 2002, H. B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant (HBRSEP), Unit No. 2, received the NRC letter entitled, "Storage of Classified Information - Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Units 1 & 2; Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1; H. B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit 2." The NRC letter requested a response within 10 days of receipt indicating whether HBRSEP, Unit No. 2, is willing to accept one of the proposed options for storage of classified information.

HBRSEP, Unit No. 2, has reviewed the options provided for storage of classified information and agrees to provide a suitable location inside the Central Alarm Station (CAS) or Secondary Alarm Station (SAS) for the installation of a small NRC security container (Option 3). HBRSEP, Unit No. 2, understands that this security container will be the property of the NRC and will be opened and closed only by NRC personnel.

HBRSEP, Unit No. 2, commits to not move this container or attempt to gain access to it without permission from the NRC. If HBRSEP, Unit No. 2, personnel find the container unlocked and unattended, the NRC Resident Inspector or the NRC Headquarters Operations Officer will be immediately notified, and reasonable care will be exercised for the protection of the security container and its contents, including guarding the contents until NRC personnel are present.
