No: IV-17-010 May 2, 2017 CONTACT: Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC to Hold Public Meeting May 31 on Decommissioning Process for Fort Calhoun The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting May 31 in Omaha, Neb., to discuss the decommissioning process for the Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant, which shut down permanently on Oct. 24, 2016. The plant is located about 20 miles north of Omaha.

The meeting will be held at the Double Tree Hotel, 1616 Dodge St., from 6-9 p.m. NRC technical staff will give a presentation describing the decommissioning process for nuclear power plants and then take questions and comments from the public.

A plan for decommissioning the plant, submitted by the Omaha Public Power District, will also be discussed at the meeting.
