The plant, operated by the Omaha Public Power District, is located about 20 miles north of near Omaha, Neb.

Jacob Wingebachs technical and regulatory experience will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants, said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E. Collins.

Wingebach joined the NRC as a reactor engineer in the Region III office in Lisle, Illinois, in 2008, where he was assigned to the Division of Reactor Projects. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering and served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work activities and interacting with plant workers and the public. Wingebach joins Senior Resident John Kirkland at the site.

The Fort Calhoun resident inspectors can be reached at: (402) 426-9611.
