No: IV-14-012 June 18, 2014 CONTACT: Lara Uselding 817 200-1519 Victor Dricks 817 200-1128 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at Fort Calhoun Station Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Arlington, Texas, have selected Max Schneider as the new senior resident inspector at the Fort Calhoun nuclear plant located north of Omaha, Neb.

Max Schneiders technical and regulatory expertise, which includes extensive experience in the resident inspector program, will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission to protect people and the environment by ensuring the safe operation of Fort Calhoun Station, said NRC Region IV Administrator Marc Dapas.

Schneider joined the NRC in 1999 and has served as a Region IV Project Engineer, Resident Inspector at River Bend nuclear plant (Louisiana), and Senior Resident Inspector at Millstone nuclear plant (Conn.). Since 2007, hes been the senior resident inspector at the Pilgrim nuclear plant in (Massachusetts). Prior to joining the NRC, Schneider worked for the Department of Energy and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He holds a bachelors in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors.

Schneider joins resident inspector Jacob Wingebach. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
