Victor Dricks (817) 200-1128 E-Mail: OPA4.Resource@nrc.gov Lara Uselding (817) 200-1519 NRC STAFF TO MEET WITH OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT OFFICIALS TO DISCUSS FORT CALHOUN NUCLEAR PLANT U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with officials from the Omaha Public Power District in Blair, Neb., on April 4, to discuss the status of performance improvements at the Fort Calhoun nuclear plant. OPPD operates the plant, located 19 miles north of Omaha.

The meeting, which is open to public observation, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Blair High School Auditorium, 440 N. 10th St., in Blair.

Fort Calhoun is shut down and remains in a safe mode following flooding last spring along the Missouri River.

Omaha Public Power District officials will brief the NRC staff on their improvement plan, preparations for the 2012 flood season, equipment modifications at the plant and organizational changes. Members of the NRC staff will be available to answer questions from the public after the business portion of the meeting.

A video of the meeting will be posted to a special website devoted to NRCs oversight of Fort Calhoun.
