Victor Dricks (817) 200-1128 E-Mail: OPA4.Resource@nrc.gov Lara Uselding (817) 200-1519 NRC SCHEDULES OPEN HOUSE TO DISCUSS FORT CALHOUN NUCLEAR PLANT The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will host an open house on May 31 in Omaha, Neb., where staff will be available to discuss the agencys oversight of the Fort Calhoun nuclear plant. Omaha Public Power District operates the plant, located 19 miles north of Omaha.

The open house is informal and will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 1616 Dodge St.

Fort Calhoun is shut down and remains in a safe mode following flooding along the Missouri River last spring.

NRC staff will be available to meet one-on-one with interested members of the public to discuss the plants current regulatory status and the role of the NRC in ensuring plant safety.

There will be no formal presentation.

This meeting is one of a series the NRC is holding to keep the public informed about OPPDs efforts to address performance issues, including formal meetings with OPPD that will be open to public observation and include opportunities for public comment.
