The two-unit nuclear power facility is operated by Exelon Generation Co. LLC. and is located in Byron, 17 miles southwest of Rockford.

Christopher Hunt is a knowledgeable inspector who is dedicated to the NRCs mission of protecting people and the environment. His experience, training and education will help ensure Byron meets the high standards set by the NRC, said NRC Region III Administrator Cynthia D. Pederson.

Hunt joined the agency in 2010 as a reactor technical reviewer in the NRCs Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. He came to the Region III office in Illinois as a reactor engineer in 2014. Prior to joining the agency he served six years as an officer in the U.S. Navys nuclear submarine force. Hunt holds a bachelors degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan and a masters degree in engineering management from the Catholic University of America.
