No: III-13-030 July 25, 2013 CONTACT: Viktoria Mitlyng 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at Clinton Nuclear Power Plant The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected William Schaup as the new senior resident inspector at the Clinton nuclear power plant in Clinton, Ill., approximately 23 miles southeast of Bloomington.

The nuclear power facility is operated by Exelon Generation Co.

William Schaups background and experience will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants, said Region III Administrator Charles Casto.

Schaup joined the NRC in 2008 as a project engineer in Region IV. He served as a resident inspector at Arkansas Nuclear One.

Prior to joining the agency, he worked as nuclear engineer at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 18 years.

Schaup holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two Resident Inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. Schaup joins NRC Resident Inspector David Lords at the Clinton facility. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.
