No: 24-015 February 26, 2024 CONTACT: Scott Burnell, 301-415-8200 NRC Makes Available Clinton Power Station License Renewal Application

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has received an application from Constellation Energy Generation to renew the operating license an additional 20 years for the Clinton Power Station in Clinton, Illinois. The application is now available on the NRC website.

Constellation filed the application on Feb. 14 seeking to renew the license from 40 to 60 years of operation. Clintons boiling-water reactor is currently licensed to operate through April 17, 2027.

The NRC staff is reviewing the application to determine if it is sufficiently complete to begin the agencys detailed safety and environmental reviews. If the application is determined to be complete, the staff will docket it and publish a notice of opportunity for the public to request a hearing before the NRCs Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.

Information about the license renewal process is available on the NRC website. A copy of the Clinton license renewal application will be available atthe Vespasian Warner Public Library, 310 N Quincy St. in Clinton.
