No: I-13-037 October 29, 2013 CONTACT: Diane Screnci 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan 610-337-5331 NRC Assigns New Resident Inspectors to Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Jonathan Greives as the new Senior Resident Inspector, and Travis Daun as the new Resident Inspector at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, in Berwick, Pa. The two-unit site is operated by PPL Susquehanna, LLC.

Jon Greives and Travis Daun have the training, experience and commitment to safety that is needed for the NRC to carry out its mission of protecting people and the environment, and they will help ensure the safe operation of the Susquehanna units, said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean.

Greives joined the NRCs Region I office in King of Prussia, Pa., in June 2009 as a project engineer. Most recently, he was the Resident Inspector at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. Prior to joining the NRC, Greives served for seven years in the Navys nuclear submarine force. During his naval service, he was a staff instructor at the Navys nuclear power training facilities and served aboard the USS Wyoming. He earned a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Bucknell University.

Daun joined the NRCs Region III office in Lisle, Ill., in April 2012 as a reactor engineer. Daun had previously served for eleven years in the Navys nuclear power program, most recently as the engineer officer aboard the nuclear submarine, the USS City of Corpus Christi. He has a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University and a masters in business management from American Intercontinental University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. Resident inspectors can be assigned to any one site for up to seven years.
