URANIUM HEXAFLUORIDE CYLINDER OVERFILL INCIDENT IN 1984 The R:gion III (Chicago) special inspection of the December 1984 cylinder overfill incident is continuing. Inspectors were on-site January 26-30, 1986, and plan to return the week of F;bruary 10, 1986, for further review. The licensee's corporate office is also conducting an internal review of the incident.
On Fcbruary 3,1986, the licensee announced that the plant manager had been relieved of his '
duties pending the outcome of the licensee's investigation and the NRC inspection. The plant manager's position is being filled by a former plant manager, who has been part of the corporate organization.
There is continuing news media interest in the overfill incident.
The State of Illinois will be informed of this updated infonnation.
