LASALLE UNIT 2 UNPLANNED SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 72 HOURS DESCRIPTION:
At 0300 (CDT) on October 12, 2009, LaSalle Unit 2 commenced a plant shutdown after the licensee observed an increase in unidentified leakage in excess of the Technical Specification limits. Other primary containment parameters - Drywell Air Temperature, Drywell and Suppression Chamber Pressure, Suppression Pool Average Temperature - remained within the Technical Specification limits.
The leakage was subsequently identified as originating from an Inboard Main Steam Line Drain Valve. The valve was subsequently repaired and LaSalle Unit 2 was restarted on October 14, 2009.
The plant is currently in the process of returning to full power operation.
The information presented herein has been discussed with the licensee and is current as of 12:00 p.m. (CDT) on October 15, 2009.
