cracking was being performed in respouse to generic concerns expressed by the NRC.

The results of this surveillance have identified two cracks in the rotor of the B low pressure turbine. The cracks are Incated in a keyway and are 360 mils and 200 mils in depth and are 1 inch and 0.5 inches in length, respectively. Inspection is continuing and corrective actions are being pursued with Westinghouse.

This cracking is similar to cracking which has been previously identified at other Region II facilities and facilities in other regions.

Media interest is not expected. Neither the licensee nor the NRC plan to inaue a press release. The Comrnonwealth of Virginia has been notified, Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the resident inspector at 11:00 a.
