NEXTeram ENERGY May 29, 2009 NG-09-0395 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Mail Station 0-P1-17 Washington, DC 20555-0001 Duane Arnold Energy Center Docket 50-331 License No. DPR-49 Response to Preliminary White Finding Inspection Report 2009009 On May 1, 2009, the staff issued Inspection Report 2009009, Duane Arnold Energy Center, NRC Follow-Up Inspection Report; Preliminary White Finding. The report requested that we submit a written response within 30 days of the date ofthe report, to~provide our position with regards to the preliminary white finding. The purpbse of this letter is to provide the requested 30,day response.
NextEra Eergy Duane Arnold, LLC. (NextEra) has reviewed the inspection report andunderstands the staff's position with regards to the safety significance associated with Unresolved Item 2008005-03, Root Cause Evaluation 1078, 'B' EDG Output Breaker Trip. NextEra does not plan to submit any additional information with regards to the safety significance of the issue. Furthermore, NextEra agrees with the cause of the preliminary white finding and the description of the corrective actions taken.
