1 REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BY THE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION DUKE FLEET - RR - CODE CASE N-752, "RISK-INFORMED CATEGORIZATION AND TREATMENT FOR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT ACTIVITIES.."
DUKE ENERGY CAROLINAS, LLC BRUNSWICK, UNITS 1, 2; HARRIS, UNIT 1; ROBINSON, UNIT 2 DOCKET NO. 05000261, 05000324, 05000325, 05000400 ISSUE DATE: 04/17/2025 Question 1 In its letter dated November 15, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24320A015), the licensee states that Application of Code Case N-752 utilizes a very similar analysis to 10 CFR 50.69 and RI-ISI and the PRA quality requirements/impacts for 10 CFR 50.69 and RI-ISI are sufficiently similar to use the same conclusions from 10 CFR 50.69 and RI-ISI for Code Case N-752. The NRC Staff finds PRA quality requirements for 10 CFR 50.69 and RI-ISI are similar to PRA quality requirements for Code Case 752.
In Attachment 1 of Robinsons 50.69 request of additional information (RAI) response, dated May 6, 2019 (ML19126A143), the licensee provided three implementation items which were found acceptable and approved by the NRC in Robinson's safety evaluation (SE), dated September 24, 2019 (ML19205A289). Please either:
- 1. Confirm completion of the referenced implementation items, or,
- 2. Provide justification of the impact of each implementation item to this application.
Question 2 In its letter dated November 15, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24320A015), the licensee states that Application of Code Case N-752 utilizes a very similar analysis to 10 CFR 50.69 and RI-ISI and the PRA quality requirements/impacts for 10 CFR 50.69 and RI-ISI are sufficiently similar to use the same conclusions from 10 CFR 50.69 and RI-ISI for Code Case N-752. In Attachment 1 of Harriss 50.69 request of additional information (RAI) response, dated April 23, 2019 (ML19113A285), the licensee provided four implementation items which were found acceptable and approved by the NRC in Harris's 50.69 safety evaluation (SE), dated September 17, 2019 (ML19192A012). The NRC TSTF-505 SE dated April 2, 2021 (ML21047A314) confirmed that the first three implementation items had been completed. With regards to the 4 th implementation item, please either:
- 1. Confirm completion of the referenced implementation item, or,
- 2. Provide justification of the impact of the implementation item to this application Question 3

- 2. Provide justification of the impact of each implementation item to this application.
