AMENDMENT REQUEST FOR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 9374 FOR THE MODEL NO. HI-STAR 80 PACKAGE - ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW
Dear Khalil Wise:
By letter dated November 1, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML24306A188), Holtec International submitted an amendment request for the Model No. HI-STAR 80 package to include fuel baskets with continuous basket shims as part of the design of the package along with several other enhancements to the design and safety analyses.
This letter is to advise you that, based on our acceptance review, the application contains sufficient technical information. We established a schedule for the technical review of your amendment request which allows for the staff to issue a possible request for additional information (RAI) by May 30, 2025, and, if no additional information is needed, the revised certificate of compliance and safety evaluation report will be issued by October 31, 2025, based on you responding to the RAI by July 15, 2025. The staff estimates that completing the safety review of this amendment request will require approximately 650 staff hours.
