ML23188A163 (public) and ML23188A164 (non-public), as supplemented by letters dated February 5, 12, and April 4, 2024 (ML23036A292, ML24043A186, and ML24095A348 (public),and ML24095A347 (non-public), respectively) and Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted an exemption request for Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 73.2, Definitions for Physical barrier, for Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (Hatch), Units 1 and 2, Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (Farley), Units 1 and 2, and Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (Vogtle), Units 1, 2, 3, and 4.
By email dated August 10, 2023 (ML23223A014), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff accepted the exemptions from review and estimated that it would complete the review by August 10, 2024. There are challenges in the NRC review that is causing the initial forecasted completion date to change from August 10, 2024, to November 12, 2024, due to the need for additional security-related information. The additional security-related information was submitted on September 5, 2024. The NRC staff has decided to perform an audit. Therefore, the revised forecasted completion date to change from November 12, 2024, to May 30, 2025.
