Dear Ronald Ballinger,

My letter dated May 9, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22129A138), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) submitted technical report Materials Reliability Program: Pressurized Water Reactor Internals Inspection and Evaluation Guidelines (MRP-227, Revision 2) to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff for review and approval (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML21301A194). The staff reviewed and accepted the technical report on June 17, 2022 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22145A401).

By email dated September 30, 2024 (ADAMS Accession No. ML24233A065), the NRC staff issued the draft SE to EPRI for a proprietary review to ensure that no sensitive unclassified nonsafeguards information (SUNSI) is accidently released in violation of Section 2.390 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR).

By email dated October 30, 2024 (ADAMS Accession No. ML24304B021), EPRI responded and informed the NRC that the SE does not contain any SUNSI. Therefore, the NRC staff is releasing the September 30, 2024, SE to support the November 2024 meeting between the NRC staff and the Fuels, Materials, and Structures Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards.

The publicly available draft SE can be found at Agencywide Documents Access Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24304B031 and will be available after November 1, 2024.
