NonPROPRIETARY - MRP-227 Revision 2 RAIs Enclosure - final - NonPROPRIETARY_Redacted.pdf Brad Adams, Chairman, PMMP EC, Southern Nuclear Robert O. McGill, MRP Program Manager, Electric Power Research Institute Palo Alto Office 3420 Hillview Avenue Palo Alto, CA 94304-1338

Mr. Adams and Mr. McGill:

By letter dated May 9, 2022, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) submitted technical report Materials Reliability Program: Pressurized Water Reactor Internals Inspection and Evaluation Guidelines (MRP-227, Revision 2) to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff for review and approval (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Package Accession No. ML21301A194). The staff reviewed and accepted the technical report on June 17, 2022 (ADAMS Accession No. ML22145A401)

The NRC staff in the Vessel Internals Branch (NVIB) in the Division of New and Renewed Licenses (DNRL) is in the process of reviewing your application. Based on our review, the NRC staff has identified requests for additional information (RAIs) (Enclosure 1). These RAIs contain proprietary information so the proprietary version of the final RAIs has been placed in the box.com folder. Mr. Kyle Amberge has been given access to the folder. A non proprietary version of the final RAIs is attached to this email.

These RAIs were discussed with Kyle Amberge and others of your staff during a clarification call on November 30, 2022. Four RAIs were deleted based on the clarification.

For public openness, the deleted RAIs are contained in Enclosure 2. Also, on November 30, 2022, we agreed that EPRI would respond to these RAIs within 120 days from the date of this email.

If you have any questions, please contact me by e-mail Lois.James@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

Lois M. James, Senior Project Manger Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR)

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Lois.James@nrc.gov
