Dear Nathan Claus:
This letter documents our telephone conversation during the week of April 22, 2024, in which I informed you of my temporary assignment as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) lead project manager (PM) for the Purdue University special nuclear material license SNM-142 following the sudden passing of the previous PM. This appointment was effective on April 18, 2024. My backup PM for will be Stephen Poy, who will become the lead licensing PM for after issuance of your renewed license. Stephen Poy can be reached at 301-415-7135 or via email to stephen.poy@nrc.gov.
I would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that, due to these changes, we have revised our technical review schedule and estimated work hours and determined that our final response on Purdues license renewal application should be expected by October 2024, and that approximately 100 additional work hours would be required to complete the review [in addition to the estimated 600 informed to Mr. Joshua Young - former Radiation Safety Officer - in our December 13, 2023, acceptance letter (ML23324A448)]. Please note that this date could change depending on our workloads, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this date.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).
