APPLICATION FOR REVISION OF CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 9225 FOR THE MODEL NO. NAC-LWT TRANSPORTATION PACKAGE - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Dear Heath Baldner:
By letter dated September 1, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System
[ADAMS] Accession No. ML23244A177), NAC International, Inc. submitted an application for revision to Certificate of Compliance No. 9225 for the Model No. NAC-LWT transport package.
The application includes a request to add fuel rods and fuel rod segments with a FeCrAl-based alloy cladding.
In connection with our review, we need the information identified in the enclosure to this letter.
At this time, I am transmitting the requests for additional information (RAIs) completed up to this point to allow you to start working on your responses. Please note that these RAIs may change as we develop RAIs in other areas of the review. The only outstanding technical review is criticality safety. I will let you know by June 30, 2024, whether we will have a criticality RAI. If we issue an RAI for criticality safety, you will receive it by July 12, 2024.
To assist us in scheduling our review of your response, we request that you provide this information within 2 months from the date of this letter. Inform us at your earliest convenience, but no later than 45 calendar days from the date of this letter if you are not able to provide the information by that time frame. Please note that, if you are unable to provide a response within the 2-month timeframe, our review may be delayed.
Please reference Docket No. 71 9225 and Cost Activity Code System/Enterprise Project Identifier No. 001029/L-2024-LLA-0008 in future correspondence related to this request. The staff is available to clarify these questions, and, if necessary, to meet and discuss your proposed responses.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 2, Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter and enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS.
