APPLICATION FOR REVISION OF CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 9225 FOR THE NAC-LWT PACKAGE - ACKNOWLEDGMENT LETTER
Dear Heath Baldner:
By letter dated January 11, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML24011A277), NAC International submitted an application for revision to Certificate of Compliance No. 9225 for the Model No. NAC-LWT transport package. The application includes a request to add Los Alamos National Laboratory mixed oxide fuel rods.
This letter informs you that the application appears to contain the necessary information to begin our technical review. We have established a schedule for the technical review of your amendment request. The schedule allows for the staff to issue a possible request for additional information the second week in May 2024, and a certificate of compliance and safety evaluation report by the end of September, based on you responding to a request for additional information by the end of the second week in July 2024. If no additional information is needed, the certificate of compliance and safety evaluation report may be issued by the end of May 2024.
The staff estimates that completing the safety review of this application will require approximately 485 staff hours and no contractor charges.
