Tim, This email is to inform you of a schedule change for the University of Illinois Topical Report, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign High Temperature Gas-cooled Research Reactor: Applicability of Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulations (ML23020A091, ML23262B024). The schedule change is due to the pending submittal of revision 3 Topical Report, after discussions on NRC Public Meeting held January 24, 2024. The NRC staff has concluded that additional time and level of effort is needed to complete the safety evaluation. The completion date will be change from March 29, 2024 to May 24, 2024 with a change to the initial level of effort hours from 415 hours0.0048 days <br />0.115 hours <br />6.861772e-4 weeks <br />1.579075e-4 months <br /> to 500 hours0.00579 days <br />0.139 hours <br />8.267196e-4 weeks <br />1.9025e-4 months <br /> needed to complete the technical review and issue the safety evaluation. The schedule and level of effort could change if revision 3 is not submitted on time or other several factors including, the need for additional RAIs, unanticipated changes to the scope of the review, and unsolicited supplements to the topical report. The NRC staff will communicate any changes to the review schedule or estimated staff hours by email, including the reason(s) for the changes.
