NuScale Nonproprietary Response to SDAA Audit Question Question Number: A-11.4-5 Receipt Date: 07/03/2023 Question:

In Figure 11.4-1 there are two notes associated with the picture but they dont clearly speak to a box in the diagram. The notes should reference the boxes in the actual drawing or else it is not clear to what box the note applies? Is the drum dryer skid the same as the dewatering skid or part of the dewatering skid? Please update Figure 11.4-1 or otherwise clarify the footnotes.

Response

The drum dryer skid and the dewatering skid are separate pieces of equipment in separate systems. The dewatering subsystem is a skid-based, vendor-supplied package that removes free-standing water from waste packages to meet transportation and disposal requirements.

The dewatering subsystem is a part of the solid radioactive waste system. The drum dryer skid is used to concentrate filtration reject and detergent waste. The drum dryer skid is part of the liquid radioactive waste system. NuScale is updating Figure 11.4-1 as shown below to clarify the footnotes.
