Virtual Pre-Application Observation Public Meeting to Discuss the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) to Framatomes Minimum Margin of Subcriticality Methodology License Amendment Request Date: September 26, 2023 On September 26, 2023, the NRC held an observation public meeting with Framatome to discuss the NRCs RAI related to Framatomes submittal dated May 17, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML23137A396; non-public). The license amendment request is for the NRC to review and approve the Framatome minimum margin of subcriticality methodology per Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 70.61(d) to support a potential subsequent licensing action to change their enrichment level.
Following introductions by the NRC and Framatome staff listed in Enclosure 1, Stephen Poy of the NRC provided opening remarks.
The NRC thanked Framatome for the opportunity to meet to ensure Framatome understood the draft requests for information being asked by the NRC staff and to provide Framatome to opportunity to seek clarity on any questions they may have regarding the requests. This meeting was conducted in an effort to have a more efficient and effective review of the license amendment submittal.
