ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW OF GLOBAL NUCLEAR FUELS - AMERICAS TOPICAL REPORTS NEDO-33377P, REVISION 4, LANCR02 LATTICE PHYSICS MODEL QUALIFICATION REPORT, NEDO-33935P, REVISION 0, LANCR02/PANAC11 APPLICATION METHODOLOGY, AND NEDC-33376P, REVISION 4, LANCR02 LATTICE PHYSICS MODEL DESCRIPTION (EPID: L-2021-TOP-0038)
Dear Ms. Catts:
By letter dated December 17, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML21351A266), Global Nuclear Fuels - Americas (GNF-A) submitted to the U.S.Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for review and approval Topical Reports (TRs) NEDO33377P, Revision 4, LANCR02 Lattice Physics Model Qualification Report, NEDO33935P, Revision 0, LANCR02/PANAC11 Application Methodology, and NEDC33376P, Revision 4, LANCR02 Lattice Physics Model Description.
The NRC performed an acceptance review and found that the material presented is sufficient to begin our review. The NRC is planning to issue requests for additional information (if determined necessary by the NRC staff) by July 15, 2022, a draft safety evaluation (SE) by March 1, 2023, and final SE by June 29, 2023.This shortened schedule takes into consideration the NRCs current review priorities and available technical resources and may be subject to change. If additional technical resources become available, the NRC will expedite its review further. If modifications to these dates are deemed necessary, we will provide appropriate updates to this information.
The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 920 staff hours including project management time. The review schedule milestones and estimated review costs were communicated on a telephone call on February 17, 2020, between Kent Halac, GNF, and the NRC staff.
Section 170.21 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations requires that TRs are subject to fees based on the full cost of the review. You did not request a fee waiver; therefore, NRC staff hours will be billed accordingly.
