By letter dated September 2, 2021 (Agencywide Document Access and Management System Accession No. ML21246A289), X Energy, LLC (X Energy), submitted for U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review XE00-R-R1ZZ-RDZZ-L-000633, Revision 2 of Xe-100 Topical Report: TRISO-X Pebble Fuel Qualification Methodology.

By the communication dated October 8, 2021 (ADAMS Accession No. ML21267A122) and the attached form (ADAMS Accession No. ML21267A121), the NRC informed X Energy of the results of its completeness review.

The NRC staff reviewed the report and based on the review, the staff concluded that additional information is needed to complete the review. I have placed an electronic version of Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) for the report in the box.com folder and have given you access to it. This email serves as formal transmittal of those RAIs.

NRC staff have not redacted any proprietary or sensitive unclassified information (SUNSI) from the RAIs so the file in the ADAMS and box.com are marked as containing export-controlled and proprietary information. The RAIs have also been placed in ADAMS as nonpublic so they can be declared an Official Agency Record. When responding to the RAIs, please provide a version containing SUNSI and a non-sensitive version of both the RAIs and the RAI responses. Your formal response, provided via letter under authorized signature, will generate the public version of the RAIs as well as the responses.

During a clarification call held on December 1, 2021, with X-energy staff that included Travis Chapman and Pete Pappano, it was agreed that a response would be submitted by January 31, 2022. This date will support the NRC staffs established review schedule.
