Purpose of Meeting

  • Current TS require unnecessary shutdown for single equipment failure scenarios that are currently analyzed
  • Sufficient margins are present in existing calculations to raise limits 3

Background of TS 3.7.1.3

  • TS 3.7.1.3 based on TS Amendments 106, 120 and 168
  • Amendment 106
  • LCO temperature of 85°F
  • Added TS Action for Emergency Discharge Valves
  • Added TS Action for all EDGs, SACS pumps and SSWS pumps to be operable above 85°F
  • Maximum temperature limit of 87°F 4

Background of TS 3.7.1.3

  • Amendment 120
  • Increased TS action temperature of all EDGs, SACS pumps and SSWS pumps to be operable to 88°F
  • Increased maximum temperature from 87°F to 89°F
  • Amendment 168
  • Incorporated TSTF-330 temperature average
  • Average of 89°F with peak not to exceed 91.4°F 5

Proposed Scope of Changes to TS 3.7.1.3

  • Revise the temperature in UHS LCO 3.7.1.3b and in TS Action for Emergency Discharge Valves from 85°F to 88°F
  • Revise TS average temperature to 91°F with a peak of 93°F
  • No changes are made to the EDG, SACS or SSWS TS 6

Technical Bases

  • Increase in temperatures for LCO and Actions are supported by margin in the existing calculation
  • Proposed average and peak UHS temperature are consistent with TSTF-330
  • Allowance of 72 hour8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> action for an EDG, SACS pump or SSWS pump is consistent with single failure assumption 7

  • Current target for submission is April 2021
