GENERIC LETTER 89-08, " EROSION / CORROSION INDUCED PIPE WALL THINNING"-(TAC NOS. 73465 AND 73466)

On May 2,1989, the NRC issued Generic Letter (GL) 89-08 which requested you to. stipulate whether or not you have implemented, or intend to implement, a long term erosion / corrosion monitoring program to ensure the structural integrity of all single and two phase high-energy carbon steel systems at Calvert Cliffs Units 1 and 2.

Your response dated-July 19, 1989, confirmed that you currently have such a program and that by December 31, 1989 a controlling procedure shall be in place establishing implementation and administrative requirements for this erosion / corrosion monitoring program. Consequently, your response to GL 89-08 is satisfactory and shall be considered complete ~ contingent upon your implementation of the program' controlling procedure.

To facilitate closure of this action, it is requested that you submit written notification to the NRC that the erosion / corrosion program controlling procedure is in place and that this program has been fully implemented.

Please provide the requested information within 60 days following the effective date of full erosion / corrosion program implementation at Calvert Cliffs.

This request for information atiects fewer than 10 respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under Public Law 95-511.
