l l o l SUPPLEMENTAL ATTACHMENT DESCRIPTION OF ABNORMAL RADI0 ACTIVE RELEASE An abnormal release occurred October 18-22, 1987, and totalled 7.60 E-4 curies composed mainly of tritium. Water (approximately 10,000 gallons) was drained from the steam generator IC secondary side to the Unit 1 interior doghouse floor vJa a leak from a partially dissembled valve ICF-89. The water accumulated in e'ne doghouse floor due to the floor drain being clogged. Contract personnel were directed to pump the water from the doghouse floor to the WWCB. The contract personnel did not realize that the water contained approximately 330 parts per million hydrazine, low levels of ammonium hydroxide, and low levels of radioactivity. The water was not analyzed prior to discharge.
