- 1) Continued evaluation of suspect welds, currently numbering around 2100.
Planned re-inspection of all accessible safety-related welds.
- 2) Re-inspection of a sample of 10 welds per Pullman NDE technician per NDE process (MT, LPT, UT thickness checks), commencing on 5/9/83.
- 3) Licensee corporate management meeting held with Pullman Power Products (PPP, Williamsport, PA) at Seabrook on 5/9/83. Corrective actions to be directly implemented by PPP, based upon corporate directive, are forthcoming.

Increased surveillance by YAEC QA personnel over PPP NDE activities (all shifts).

Commencement of random "information or.ly" LPT/MT examinations by YAEC NDE personnel. Consideration is also being given to hire an outside NDE contractor to augment this information/ assurance NDE effort.
6)
Investigative review (eg: interviewswithtechnicians)offactssurrounding this issue continues.
- 7) Direction given by PPP to maintain " Functional Lead NDE Inspector" in field and increase PPP Level III NDE technicians time spent in field also, I
monitoring ongoing NDE activities.

Establishment of a YAEC/UE&C Supervisory Support Group (SSG) to monitor PPP activities and PPP perfonnance. Six full time personnel will check various aspects of PPP work and prepare a daily written report. An evaluation panel will review the reports, interview SSG members weekly, and provide recommendations weekly to the YAEC & UE&C Corporate QA manager level.
Open-ended time frame on continuing this SSG effort, scheduled to commence 5/16/83.
- This action taken more in response to general PPP perfonnance concerns, rather than to the direct NDE problem.
