A ruutine radiological controls ir.,pection was conducted by R. L. Nimitz of
this office on July 13-17, 1987 at the Pilgrim Station.
The findings of the
inspection were discussed with you.
The inspection covered: the adequacy and implementation of your action
on previous NRC findings; in plant radiological controls; and several worker

concerns.
As discussed with you at the exit meeting, improvements are needed in the area
of close out of previous NRC findings.
Regarding the worker concerns, no significant deficiencies were identified.
However, one violation was identified in the area of radiological controls and
is included in the enclosed Appendix A.
The violation involved an individual
entering a posted High Radiation Area without the radiation work permit
required survey meter.
You are required to respond to this violation in
accordance with the enclosed Appendix A.
The response directed by this letter and accompanying Notice are not subject
to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as required
by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
