The purpose of this letter is to docurrent our review of your efforts to satisfy the requirements of Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.1 " Equipment Classification and Vendor Interface (Reactor Trip System Components)", for TMI-1. j In Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.1 (Part 1) the licensee was required to I confirm that all components whose functioning is required to trip the reactor are identified as safety-related on all plant documentation and in information handling systems that are used to control all activities performed on this i safety-related equipment. You have responded and our review of your responses as documented in the enclosed contractor's report (EG&G-NTA-7755) finds the ,

responses to Generic Letter 83-78 Item 2.1 (Part 1) to be acceptable. The enclosed SE documents our concurrence with the contractor's findings and also finds your responses for this item to be acceptable. We therefore consider i

Part 1 of Item 2.1 to be closed by this action.

Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.1 and its associated TAC number remains open because the Vendor Interface portion (Part 2) of this item has not been resolved. The staff is reviewing your submittal of May 29, 1987 in this
