To provide a detailed procedure for Instrumentation Personnel to perform h
g functional tests of the ATWS Sjstem Trips.
F II. DISCUSSION A. The ATWS System should be functionally tested once per month.

The ATWS trip units to be calibrated once 'per three months.

The ATWS System provides for an addition of negative reactivity header)to in' the Core (tripping recire. pumps and letting air off scram (Hi-Hi Reactor the event of a transient Water Level) without a scram having taken place. r !

The ATWS System is composed of four Trip Channels which makt two trip l
"C" compose Trip System "A" and it isand housed in_ Panel Channel "A" &
compose Trip System "B" it is housed in l 2277. Channel "B" & "D" l Panel 2278. f l
Each trip system has three trip circuits, each trip circuit is ' equipped {
vith a light system.
Two neon lamps are connected in series and are 1n i the series with the t:1p coil. During normal operation the trip relays f are de-energized (untripped) and normal voltage across each neon lamp ,
is approximately 66V p.C.
When one trip relay energizes (half trip) the voltage across lamps connected in parallel with closed contacts will go to approximately This0 g volts D.C. This indicates tripped relay contacts have closed.

C. Establish communications from rack 2205/2206 to Control Room.

I. PROCEDURE
l Power Supply Supervisory Circuit Test
- 1. At "ATWS" Logic Panel #2277, confirm that Power Supply. e PSlA and ,
PS2A "ON" indicating light are lit.
- 2. Depress one at a time power supply monitoring circuit test button
~
SlA and S2A and verify that associated power supply "0N" light goes out and that "ATWS" trouble alarm annunciate on Panel 905.
, ,N Repeat Step 1 and 2 for "ATWS" Logic Panel 2278.

- 4. Record results on check sheet 8.M.1-29A-1
- 3. Rosemount Trip Unit functional Test / Calibration verification.
- 1. At the "ATWS" Logic Panel, verify that Calibration Unit in the following condition:
- a. Power switch in "0FF" position.
- b. 1ransient current knob is pulled and fully turned counter ,
clockwise.

Nc. "P'iess to Cal." knob is pulled out and in "OFF" position.
, d. Trip unit test selector switch in "0FF" position.
Turn power on.
- 2. Plug Rosemount Readout Assembly into Calibration Unit.

- 3. Rotate both Trip Unit Test Selector Switch and " Press to Cal."
knob to the channel to be tested.

- 10. Record as found trip polut and analog data on check-off sheet 8.M.1-29A-2. or 8.M.1-29B 2 and on calibration data record wheet.
Proceed to Step 13 for Functional Test. If trip settings are differer than specified above, proceed to Step 11 for Trip Unit Calibration. ;
