l I. ' PURPOSE I

To provide a program identified as preventive maintenance which will allow an over-l I

haul schedule to be developed prior to the deterioration of the system or component toward an unacceptable condition.

II.

DISCUSSION Preventive maintenance includes operational, functional performance, hydrostatic and insulation. type tests,' inspections, calibration data, lubrication data and other types of, inspections or tests which will lead to determining an overhaul schedule.

The inspection or tests scheduled are based on, previous knowledge of performance in a given service or guidelines established by vendors or various standards.

Maintenance or modifications to safety related structures, systems or components l

4 shall be performed in accordance with the original design requirements, bases and standards to assure quality equal to the original product. When standards or codes are updated, repairs or modifications to systems shall also be updated, if possible, to ireprove the quality of the system or component.

l Maintenance of safety related equipment which is outside the normal craft capability l

shall be pre-planned with written procedures performed in accordance with approved documents and criteria.

The schedule contained in the following instrument and control, electrical, and mech-l l

anical sections are in addition to that schedule outlined in Technical Specifications l

for Pilgrim Station.

o All me!ntenance, work on safety related equipment shall be performed in accordance' with procedures in Section 3.M.2, 3.M.3, and 3.M.4.

formation, such as authorization for work, procedures to be used, surveillance test i

required, tagging requirements, radiation work permit requirements, quality assurance l l

rec'rds and equipment history requirements.
