Request for Withholding Infomation from Public Disclosure (TACS 64779/64780)

By your application dated February 13, 1987, you submitted General Electric 1987 Hatch 1 Lead Test Assembly Description and requested that it be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790. Also enclosed was an affidavit- from the General Electric Company dated November 5,1986.

The affadavit stated that the submitted infomation should be considered exempt from mandatory public disclosure for the following reasons:

1. The document contains infomation which is customarily held in confidence by General Electric (GE).
2. The infomation has been held in confidence by GE and is not available in public sources.
3. The information reveals important features and contains valuable design information which was obtained at considerable cost to GE and is not available to other parties. ~

We have reviewed your application and the material based on the requirements and criteria of 10 CFR 2.790 and on the basis of General Electric's statements, have determined that the submitted information sought to be withheld contains trade secrets or proprietary conmercial information.

Therefore, the General Electric 1987 Hatch 1 Lead Test Assembly Description marked as proprietary will be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790(b)(5).and Section 103(b) of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.

Withholding from public inspection shall not affect the right, if any, of per-sons properly and directly concerned to inspect the documents. If the need arises, we may send copies of this infomation to our consultants, working in this area. We will, of course, insure that the consultants have signed the appropriate agreements for handling proprietary infomation.
