ASME Code Section XI Requirement Determined to be Impractical -

ASME B and PV Code,Section XI, 1980 Edition through winter of 1980 Addenda, Article IWA-4000, and Section III, 1971 Edition, Article ND-5000.

3.

Basis for Requesting Relief:

Dye penetrant inspection was not performed on weld repair to root side (inside pipe) of weld RN1F-427, 4.

Alternate Examination:

A.

Perform limited ultrasonic inspection (UT) at both 45 and 60 degree angles on the entire area of RN1F-427.

This limited inspection is based on valve to weld configuration.

B.

This weld and adjacent welds RN1F 58-1 and 58-2 will receive an inservice leak inspection.
