. Procedures. OP/0/A/6400/06, OP/1/A/6200/01,. and OP/1/A/6250/02 require certain valves as.'specified in their enclosures to be locked in position.

Contrary to the above, the.following valves were observed not to be locked in position on the indicated. dates: 2RN938, (September 1, 1987); 2RNC54-t

-(September 2,.1987);.1NV240 (September 17, 1987); 1CA34 (September 21, 1987).

This is a Severity Level IV Violation (Supplement I).

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Duke Power Company is hereby -

required to submit'. to this Office within thirty (30) days of the' date of the letter transmitting this Notice a written statement 'or explanation in reply n

including:- (1) admission or denial of the violation, (2) the reason for the

, violation if admitted,-(3) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved,-(4) the corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations, and (5) the'date when. full compliance wili be achieved. Where good cause is shown,_ consideration will be given to extending the response time.
