SUBJECT:
INSPECTION OF LARGE IRRADIATORS Attached is a proposed Manual Chapter on the inspection of large irradiators using hundreds of thousands of curies of Co-60. As the Headquarter memo addresses, there is not a construction permit involved in these projects, '
but there is an issue of deciding whether the irradiation facility was constructed and tested in a way that demonstrates that it conforms to the application.
Region 111 has one such facility to be constructed in Libertyville, Illinois.
We request your inspection assistance during the construction phase. We estimate one week's total effort, including a two-day site visit, in the Spring of 1986. I hope you will be able to assist us. ;
