MN No.20-006 U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGION I NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING August 5, 2020 Licensee: Entergy Nuclear Northeast Facilities: Indian Point Energy Center, Units 2 and 3 Docket Nos: 50-247 and 50-286 Date/Time: Tuesday, September 22, 2020 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Registered attendees will be able to log on starting at 5:45 p.m.

Purpose:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will hold an online meeting with the public to discuss the NRCs 2019 safety assessment of Indian Point, Units 2 and 3; the proposed license transfer of the plant for decommissioning; and the Expert Evaluation teams report on the 42-inch Algonquin Incremental Market (AIM) natural gas pipeline near the plant.

The webinar will begin with presentations by NRC staff on the agencys assessment of performance for Indian Point during 2019, the review process for the proposed Indian Point Energy Center license transfer from Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. to Holtec Decommissioning International, LLC, and the NRCs review of Entergys safety evaluation and hazard analysis of the AIM pipeline near the Indian Point site. Following the presentations, members of the public will have the opportunity to ask questions. The NRC staff will provide guidance during the webinar on how to ask a question. Alternatively, questions may be submitted in advance to mark.draxton@nrc.gov.

This meeting was originally intended to be an in-person meeting on June 24, 2020, and later rescheduled to September 22, 2020. However,

2 due to the ongoing restrictions on large public gatherings due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, this meeting will be held virtually as a webinar.

This meeting will also address the commitment to Congresswoman Nita Lowey to hold a public meeting on the Expert Teams findings relating to the AIM gas pipeline, as stated in the April 15, 2020, letter from NRC Chairman Kristine Svnicki (NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML20104C075), and the proposed license transfer process of Indian Point to Holtec, as stated in the April 16, 2020, letter from Margaret M. Doane, NRC Executive Director for Operations (ADAMS Accession Number ML20092H996).

Interested members of the public must register at the internet address below to see the visual portion of the presentations. In addition, interested members of the public must call in at 1-888-391-9420, passcode 9660269# in order to hear the audio portion of the presentations because the video portion of the presentations will have no sound. After registering, a confirmation email will be sent with details for joining the webinar. This is a virtual public meeting where participants will be able to see the presentations on a computer screen and hear the presenters through their telephone. There is also the option to join via phone only by calling in to the number above. Audio will not be available through the computer.
