April 15, 2020 The Honorable Nita Lowey Chairman, Committee on Appropriations United States House of Representatives Washington, DC 20515

Dear Madam Chairwoman:

On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I write to respond to your March 13, 2020 letter expressing concerns about the findings in the NRC Office of the Inspector Generals February 13, 2020, report, Concerns Pertaining to Gas Transmission Lines at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plan. I want to thank you and your staff for making the time for a briefing with the NRC staffs evaluation team tasked with considering this report.

The team welcomed the opportunity to discuss its completed review, including its findings and recommendations, which were sent to the Commission on April 9, 2020.

As discussed at the briefing, the NRC will hold a public meeting after the evaluation teams report is made publicly available and once the current restrictions on large public gatherings due to the pandemic are lifted. The NRCs Office of Congressional Affairs will keep your staff updated on when a date and location is scheduled for the meeting.

Thank you for your interest in this important matter. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me or have your staff contact Eugene Dacus, Director of the Office of Congressional Affairs, at (301) 415-1776.

Sincerely, Digitally signed by Kristine L. Svinicki Kristine L. Svinicki Date: 2020.04.15 12:54:47 -04'00' Kristine L. Svinicki
