This letter provides the final results of NSP's analysis of the suppression pool temperature and pressure for the limiting LOCA in regard to low pressure ECCS pump NPSH. This letter is being submitted to satisfy a license ce ndition contained in Appendix C (p. C 1) of the MNGP operating license. This license condition is stated as follows.
Submit the results of the additional containment analysis and associated NPSH evaluation discussed above.
In this context, ' additional containment analysis,' refers to an extension of the previous long term LOCA case to the point where containment pressure is at atmospheric levels. The results are being submitted in two attachments as discussed below. No changes to previously submitted analytical methods were made in arriving at these results. There are no changes to the amount of containment overpressure required for NPSH as previously approved by the staff.
j Attachment i supplements GE Report GE NE T23007312,'LOCA Containment Analyses for //
Use in Evaluation of NPSH for the RHR Core Spray Pumps." The GE report was previously submitted to the staff as Exhibit D to an NSP letter dated June 19,1997. The analysis has been'4S, /
extended to 450,000 seconds or approximately 5.2 days. At 5.2 days, containment pressure has returned to atmospheric levels.
Attachment 2 is a summary of the overpressyre required for adequate ECCS pump NPSH using environmentalinputs from the long-term containment analysis resuits from Attachment 1. For purposes of continuity, this summary can be considered replacements to pages 19 and 20 of NSP's previously submitted NPSH calculat:on which was submitted as Exhibit E to NSP's letter chted June 19,1997.
