RE:
Pacemaker Malfunction
')U Special Nuclear Material License #1656 3 (16 M
Gentlemen:
on February 6, 1980, Coratomic pacemaker model #210, serial
- 228, was removed at our facility from patient Jean Stanley.
I am informed that improper operation of this device was due to a
{
lead problem but have been unable to obtain further details from
,the company.
It is my understanding that the replacement pacemaker rein-serted was of the conventional type, i.e.,
battery driven.
On inquiry of the Coratomic representative I was told that the. defective pacemaker had been returned by Purolater to the-company as required.
I was also told that Coratomic-has corres-ponded with.the Nuclear Regulatory Commission-providing them with the required reports on the incident.
Thus far, I have-not'been able to obtain from the company any further details on'the mal-function of the pacemaker'or any copies of such correspondence as they'have made with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Sincerely, tlerlkflht/2['
