Beaver Valley Unit No. 2. License No. CPPR-105 As a result of.the inspection conducted on' March 16-26, 1987,. in accordance

. with the " General Statement of Policy _and Procedure for.NRC Enforcement

. Actions"~,10CFR2,- Appendix C, the following deviation was identified:

The Beaver Valley Unit '2 Final Safety An'alysis Report (FSAR) commits to follow IEEE Standard-384-1974 " Criteria for Seperation of. Class.IE Equip-ment and Circuits". This standard requires.that-all electrical system and 1

components be identif.ied to distinguish redundancy down to'the channel-- 1

-level. The FSAR further. states in Section 8.3.1.3 that "the identification j method as implemented during design, construction, and testing operations will support the evaluation of system availability,. goals during operations and the performance of maintenance tasks."

Contrary to the above, safety related electrical equipment including 4160 volt switchgear, 480 volt unit substations, 480 volt motor control centers,.

battery' electrical supply components and 120 volt AC vital bus distribution panels, were found on March.18, 1987 not to tue identified as committed to' in the FSAR.

This is a deviation from FSAR commitments.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Duquesne Light Company is hereby requested to submit to this office within. thirty days.of the date.of the letter

- which: transmitted this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including the corrective steps which will be taken to avoid similar deviations in-the future. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to-extending;this response time.
